Supplier products CSV

One row per product and supplier. If two suppliers sell the same product, give it two rows. Supplier is required, and each row needs a SKU or a barcode so Shelfcast can find the product. Every other column can be left out of the file, or left blank.

Download the supplier products template, or press Download template in Shelfcast with Supplier products chosen. Its two made-up rows show a product found by SKU and one found by barcode.

Import after your first sync finishes, so your products are there to match, and after your suppliers file if you have one.

Column What to write Also accepted
Supplier (required) The supplier’s name. A name Shelfcast doesn’t know yet adds a new supplier. Example: Example Supplies Co. Supplier name, Vendor
SKU The product’s SKU in Shopify, in any capitals. Example: EXAMPLE-MUG-BLUE Variant SKU, Product SKU
Barcode Any of the product’s barcodes in Shopify, exactly, leading zeros included. Example: 0123456789012 UPC, EAN, GTIN
Supplier SKU The supplier’s own code for the product. It’s printed on purchase orders. Example: ES-1001 Supplier code, Supplier product code, Vendor SKU, MPN
Unit cost What one unit costs from this supplier: a number of 0 or more, in the supplier’s currency. Example: 4.50 Cost, Cost price, Supplier cost, Price
Minimum order quantity The fewest units the supplier sells: a whole number of 1 or more. Example: 12 MOQ, Min order qty, Minimum
Pack size Units per case: a whole number of 1 or more. Example: 6 Case size, Case pack, Units per case
Preferred yes to reorder this product from this supplier. 1, true, y and preferred also mean yes. Anything else, such as no, means no. Example: yes Primary, Is preferred
  • Products are found by SKU, whatever the capital letters, then by barcode, matched exactly. A product that’s still in your catalog wins over one deleted in Shopify.
  • Suppliers are found by name, whatever the capital letters. A name that doesn’t match a supplier in Shelfcast exactly adds a new supplier, so spell each name the way it is in Shelfcast or your suppliers file: Acme Co and Acme Co. become two suppliers.
  • A product already linked to the supplier is updated, but only from cells that have something in them. A blank cell never clears what’s there. A new link starts with a minimum order quantity and pack size of 1.
  • Forecasts refresh when the import finishes, so suggestions use the new costs, minimums and pack sizes.

Nothing in a skipped row is imported, and a supplier it names isn’t added. Each reason says what to fix. Press Download skipped rows for a file of just those rows, with the reason in an Error column, then fix them and import that file. → When rows are skipped

Message What to do
“Supplier is blank. Write the name of the supplier who sells this product.” Fill in the supplier.
“SKU and Barcode are both blank. Write the product’s SKU or barcode as it is in Shopify.” Fill in either one.
“No product in Shopify has the SKU or barcode … Check it matches Shopify exactly, including any leading zeros.” Compare the code with the product in Shopify. If the leading zero is missing, your spreadsheet dropped it: see keeping leading zeros. A product added to Shopify in the last few minutes may not have synced yet.
“Unit cost must be a number of 0 or more, like 4.50.” Write the cost as a number, or leave it blank.
“Minimum order quantity must be a whole number of 1 or more, like 12.” Write a whole number, or leave it blank for no minimum.
“Pack size must be a whole number of 1 or more, like 6.” Write the units per case, or leave it blank if the supplier sells single units.
